Prof.

Dr.

İzzet Özgenç, former legal adviser to President Tayyip Erdoğan, made a remarkable confession.

He described how Erdoğan intervened in cases.

Özgenç was one of the people who drafted the Turkish Penal Code that entered into force in 2005.

He served as a legal adviser between 1994 and 1998, while Erdoğan was mayor of the Istanbul Metropolitan Municipality.

İzzet Özgenç said that, while he was an expert witness in the Etibank case that began in 2001, Cüneyt Zapsu came to his house through Erdoğan and asked for a report in favour of the defendants accused of embezzlement.

Zapsu is a mysterious businessman.

He served officially at Erdoğan’s side for seven years, from 2001 to 2008.

He is among the founders of the AKP.

He served as special adviser to the AKP leader, special assistant and data coordinator.

He was also a member of the party’s Central Decision and Executive Board.

Zapsu was Erdoğan’s unofficial link abroad.

He organised the meetings that had to stay secret, and he was always present at each one.

For that reason he was described as Erdoğan’s black box and keeper of secrets abroad.

To return to Prof.

Özgenç’s confession: in the Etibank case, Özgenç does not write the report Zapsu wanted.

He writes a report against the defendants.

The defendants accused of embezzlement are convicted.

Zapsu then meets Özgenç again and tells him that the doors of the AKP are closed to him.
